The BEST Mk6 Golf R Intake on the market. After a lot of research. 3D modelling, air flow simulation, material testing and track testing we have put together an intake that we believe is the best on the market whilst giving the engine bay an OEM look.

Intake Pipe Material:

To get the best performance you need the best suited material. Most companies use a cheap standard mild steel pipe which holds heat in and stays very hot once engine temperatures are high. This gives poor long term performance.

Our intakes are made using cross linked polyethylene. This material has excellent properties to keep heat out of the inner pipe. The chemical makeup of cross linked polyethylene together with a thicker pipe wall does an excellent job of keeping the pipe cool even once the engine bay temperatures are high.

One piece pipe – smooth air flow design.

Because the pipe is made from cross linked polyethylene we were able to mould a 1 piece pipe from the filter all the way to the turbo. It has a huge 6inch inlet mouth which helps air flow no matter what the power output of the car is. Other companies that use cheap standard steel often use more than 1 piece to achieve a path from the filter to the turbo. This means more joins are needed which can result in air leaks and disturbed air flow which can affect the sensitive MAF (Mass Air Flow ) sensors readings and lead to poor fuel trims and inconsistent performance.

Pipe Diameter & Fuel Trims

One of the biggest problems in the intakes on the market today is the MAF housing pipe Diameter. As mentioned earlier most companies use a cheap off the shelf pipe diameter which is incorrect diameter. Why does this matter? The ECU (engine control unit) is programmed to calculate air at a very specific diameter. If this diameter is wrong the amount of air that flows through the pipe is unmetered and can cause lean or rich fuel trims. If these fuel trims get too far out from the specified tolerance it can cause long term engine damage, poor fuel economy or inconsistent performance.

Our intake MAF pipe diameter is equivalent to factory diameter so you can be confident that fuel trims are going to be safe.

Intake Heatshield,

Intake temps are critical on the FSI engines. Unfortunately due to the design of the engines the intake sits right above the extremely hot exhaust manifold.

Any car with an aftermarket intake should utilize 1 of these heatshields to protect the intake from getting hot, especially around the MAF sensor. Lower intake temps produce more power and most important consistent power.

This certainly won’t be the difference in winning or losing your next race but we know the small things add up.

Comes coated with ceramic heatproof paint.

Best Performing filter with no maintenance.

You can probably see by now the MAF sensors in these cars are super sensitive and can cause issues if operated out of their design parameters. One common problem is oil being built up on the sensor caused from cotton filters that are oil gauzed/cleaned. As cotton filters have a poorly engineered filtration design they often use an oil film to help trap dirt. This decreases the air flow and over time it can leave a film of oil on the MAF sensor which will cause inaccurate readings and this can go on to give poor fuel trims, misfires and ECU fault codes.

The filter we use is a set and forget filter. Unlike cotton and foam filters you will not need to maintain this filter.

  • Donaldson Powercore special Gen 2 Filter.
    • The PowerCore will trap less than a .001 Micron (the naked eye cannot see a micron) of particles, where as a Cotton Gauze filter will pass a grain of sand thus protecting your engine 10 times longer than Cotton Filters. The PowerCore requires No Maintenance, No Oiling, No Cleaning for 240,000 km’s– the Cotton Gauze needs maintenance every 15,000 km’s.

PowerCore is the Only OE Approved Aftermarket Performance Filter on the Planet that will not void the factory warranty.

Air inlet placement

The design of this Air intake is to provide the cleanest and coolest air. The filter housing placement is as far from the hot parts of the engine bay as possible. By moulding it from cross linked polyethylene we were able to design it to suck in cool air from 2 places whilst protecting the inlet from any unnecessary heat.

Dont waste time or money buying multiple intakes. Do it once and do it right.
